XLComparator
Service permanently closed

A final message from XLComparator

Thank you for 17 years of comparisons.

XLComparator has permanently closed. Since 2009, it has helped people compare spreadsheet data without writing Excel macros. We are deeply grateful to everyone who used and supported the service.

Why the service is closing

We want to be transparent about the circumstances that led us to retire XLComparator permanently.

AI has changed how spreadsheet work gets done.

When XLComparator launched in 2009, it filled a real need for people who were not comfortable writing Excel macros. Today, a well-written AI prompt can perform the same comparison and often suggest a more useful experience tailored to your data.

Three prompts to replace the main XLComparator use cases

Attach your spreadsheet files to an AI assistant, then adapt one of these prompts to your needs.

  1. Compare these two Excel files using the “Customer ID” column as the key. List the rows that appear in the first file but not in the second.
  2. Compare the “January” and “February” worksheets in this workbook. Identify changed values by product code and create a clear summary of the differences.
  3. Match these two CSV files by email address. Find missing records, duplicate records, and any fields that differ, then prepare a clean CSV report.

Thank you for being part of the journey.

XLComparator is no longer available for file comparisons. We wish you efficient, secure, and successful spreadsheet work ahead.
